Burleigh Heads Markets: Saturday and Beachfront Sunday Guide

For a market morning in Burleigh, choose the Saturday farmers market at Burleigh Heads State School or the beachfront market on the last Sunday of the month. The first is the weekly option for a food-shopping morning; the second combines artisan stalls with a walk beside the beach. The Village Markets is a different event and is reported closed at its former Burleigh location.

These are the schedules published by Burleigh Market and The Coastal Markets, checked on 9 September 2026. The beachfront organiser lists Sunday 27 September for this month. “Last Sunday” does not always mean “fourth Sunday”: in a five-Sunday month, it is the fifth.
Saturday: build a food-shopping morning around it
The weekly Burleigh Farmers Market makes sense early in a self-catering stay: the organiser lists fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, deli food, coffee and bakery treats. Pick up breakfast and ingredients for a picnic, then browse the flowers, plants and second-hand finds. Our suggested allowance is an hour to look around, longer if you stop for breakfast.
The school grounds are away from the beachfront stalls. Approach through the Lower Gold Coast Highway entry, near the West Burleigh Road intersection. The organiser advertises free parking on the oval and surrounding area; follow the market’s directions on arrival. Bring a reusable bag and keep any chilled purchases cool before heading out for the rest of the day.
Sunday: shopping beside the foreshore
The Coastal Markets lists handmade art, fashion, gifts and homewares among its stalls. This is the better match for a leisurely browse for something to take home, with the beach as part of the outing. Our suggestion is to shop first, then continue along the foreshore towards central Burleigh for lunch.
Allow roughly one to two hours as a planning estimate, not a required visit length. If you are only window-shopping, you can make a shorter loop and spend more time by the water. The setting makes this market a natural companion to our free Burleigh activities rather than an all-day shopping expedition.
What happened to The Village Markets?
The Village Markets, often shortened to TVM, should not be confused with the two markets above. Must Do Gold Coast’s January 2026 update reports that its Burleigh market has closed. Its visitor-review listing also reports permanent closure, although older directory descriptions still display the former first-and-third-Sunday timetable.
We could not verify a current Burleigh event with the organiser, so that old timetable is not a recommended outing. Choose one of the two confirmed markets above; if a future TVM pop-up is announced, treat it as a separate event with its own date and address.
Turn it into a relaxed Burleigh morning
On Saturday, put food purchases away before a beach walk. On the beachfront market Sunday, pair the stalls with James Street’s boutiques and coffee stops. On a non-market day, that shopping strip is a good alternative for coffee and browsing when the stalls are not trading.
Both organisers advertise all-weather trading, with The Coastal Markets directing visitors to its social updates for changes. A quick event check is worthwhile before setting out in severe weather. Bring sun protection and a little cash as well as a card; individual stall payment arrangements can differ.
